Drivin N Cryin, who have been going strong for over thirty years, brought their Southern rock stylings to Greensboro's White Oak Amphitheatre on Wednesday night as part of the Now's The Time Tour with Collective Soul and Gin Blossoms.

Look, it can't be easy to the opening act of a three-band outdoor bill on a sweltering May evening. The place is only 1/3 to 1/2 capacity. Folks are milling around, pregaming, drinking, eating, doing everything but playing attention to the band.

But that wasn't the case for Drivin N Cryin.

Yeah, the place was only 1/2 capacity, but most everyone that was there that early was there to see DNC. Folks were standing up, signing the songs, pumping their fists, and getting into the band rather than just biding their time waiting for the headliners. They had some dedicated fans there!

How dedicated? We had a woman come up to us near the end of their set and told us she had come all the way from Myrtle Beach to see the show. She told us how she was an early fan of the band because her husband was a music programmer at an Atlanta radio station in the '80s and the station embraced Drivin N Cryin early in their career. She said she liked to check in on her boys every few years to see what they're up to.

She smiled. "They're still rocking," she said.
