Clyde Jones is a chainsaw artist who has been making his critters since 1982.

You can't buy any of his creations. Instead, Mr. Jones gives them away.

You can find them all over North Carolina, especially near Pittsboro and Bynum.

They are more and more plentiful the closer you go to his home. While Jones does not sell his critters, he welcomes people to come by his home and check them out.

When we went, it was a humid early June morning. Clyde was sitting on his front porch, taking a break from mowing his yard.

He was very welcoming, telling us about his art.

Unfortunately, there weren't as many of his critters in his yard when we went because he had to have them moved because his lawn had become overgrown and he was working on getting it under control.

And oh yeah, Clyde doesn't just make critters. He keeps his house painted as well!

Clyde is such a treasure to the area that the Chatham Arts Council holds an annual festival called Clydefest that honors the man and promotes creativity in children.
