PLEASE NOTE: THIS ATTRACTION IS NOT LONGER WITH US.

The Rise Together Greensboro art installation is a collaboration between The Community Foundation of Greater Greensboro’s Public Art Endowment and artist Charlie Brouwer. It is a temporary installation and will only be around until September 28th.

The large dome-like structure has three entrances and was created using 351 ladders, some of which were decorated and painted by schoolchildren.

What is the meaning in the piece? According to artist Brouwer:
"Each ladder represents the hopes and dreams of a part of the community, but when they are all connected, supporting and being supported by each other, they will be able to rise together to create a metaphor for community," Brouwer said.

I'm not going to pass judgement on whether or not this art. I believe art is subjective and truly in the eye of the beholder. But I do know that if you go inside this dome of ladders, you're probably looking at a lifetime of bad luck.
