Back in April, we had our readers send in their favorite burger restaurants in North Carolina. We then ranked them based on their reviews and popularity, put them in a bracket, and had our readers determine the best burger in North Carolina, NCAA-tournament style. Here are the top 10 burger joints in North Carolina according to the readers of Strange Carolinas.

10. THE OLD SHARKEY'S GRILL (BURLINGTON)
The Old Sharkey's Grill serves up a wide variety of comfort food like beef tips, pork chops, meatloaf, and country-style steak. But their burgers are good enough to make The Old Sharkey's Grill the owner of the tenth best burger in North Carolina.

The Old Sharkey's Grill is located at 203 South Anthony Street in Burlington.

9. HAPS'S GRILL (SALISBURY)
Hap's Grill is a tiny, no-frills joint that's been around since 1986. You can get hot dogs, hamburgers, and chips and that's about it. There's always a line out the door, but they move you through the line fast.

Hap's Grill is located at 116 North Main Street in Salisbury.

8. BIG BURGER SPOT (GREENSBORO)
Big Burger Spot is the home of the Steve Harvey Burger (not pictured) which is two all-beef patties, two slices white cheese, sliced raw onion, pickles, extra mayo, and topped with steak fries. Steve even dropped by the restaurant to taste it and loved it!

Big Burger Spot is located at 510 Nicholas Road and at 3750-A Battleground Avenue in Greensboro.

7. P.T.'S OLD FASHIONED GRILLE (GOLDSBORO, LELAND, WILMINGTON)
P.T.'s has great burgers and fries and have an extremely friendly staff. We love P.T.'s Old Fashioned Grille and try to fit a visit in each time we're in Wilmington.

P.T.'s Old Fashioned Grille has seven locations in Goldsboro, Leland, and Wilmington.

6. RIVERWATCH GRILL (CHIMNEY ROCK)
The menu at Chimney Rock's Riverwatch Grill boasts subs, seafood, hot dogs, salads, and nineteen different burgers, including the nearly extinct pizza burger. If it's any consolation, they probably have the best view of any restaurant on this list.

Riverwatch Grill is located at 379 Main Street in Chimney Rock.

5. THE PORTERHOUSE BURGER COMPANY (GREENSBORO)
The PorterHouse Burger Company has been around since 2012 and has added two food trucks to its culinary arsenal over time. Their signature burger is the Build Your Own Burger, and on Mondays you can get a BYOB and fries for $5.95.

The PorterHouse Burger Company is located at 4608 West Market Street in Greensboro.

4. JUICY LUCY'S BURGER BAR AND GRILL (ASHEVILLE)
All Juicy Lucy burgers are stuffed with white American cheese. The pictured burger is the Cowboy Bacon Juicy Lucy which is topped with white American cheese, Juicy Lucy's Cowboy rub, 2 slices of applewood smoked bacon, homemade Lucy Gone Wild Sauce which contains fresh habanero, and Bourbon BBQ.

Juicy Lucy's Burger Bar and Grill is located at 620 Hendersonville Road in Asheville.

3. THE LOADED GOAT (MOUNT AIRY)
The Loaded Goat serves appetizers, salads, sandwiches, and burgers. Each week, they feature a different Burger Of The Week. Past burgers have included the Down South Burger which is topped with fried green tomatoes, pimento cheese, and chow chow.

The Loaded Goat is located at 247 City Hall Street in Mount Airy.

2. RAY'S SMOKEHOUSE (GASTONIA)
Even though Ray's Smokehouse lost in the Edible Eight, they lost to the eventual champion and received 49.1% of the popular vote while doing so, so we felt they belonged at the #2 spot. Plus, any burger you have to put a stick through to get it to stand upright deserves serious consideration!

Ray's Smokehouse is located at 219 South Broad Street in Gastonia.

1. CAROLINA BURGER (LENOIR, NC)
Carolina Burger won the Strange Carolinas Burger Bracket tournament and received over 70% of the popular vote in both the championship matchup and the semi-finals. The pictured burger is the Carolina Fire Cracker, which is a single patty on grilled Texas toast with Swiss & jalapeno cream cheese, grilled onions, and homemade lava sauce. And it rocks!

Carolina Burger is located at 606 Blowing Rock Boulevard in Lenoir.

And if you're interested in visiting all 64 participants in the Strange Carolinas North Carolina Burger Bracket, we've created an easy-to-use map, grouped by which Round the restaurant lost in. Enjoy!
