Young The Giant have been busy lately. Since July, they have rocked out on Colbert and Fallon and released their fourth studio album, Mirror Master. They are on fire right now and it was evident in the faces of the sold-out crowd at the Fillmore in Charlote on Friday night.

After a great set served up by opener Lights, Young The Giant hit the stage and launched into titular track "Mirror Master" and "Heat Of The Summer." Yes, these are new tracks, but the crowd welcomed them with open arms, treating these tunes like classic songs. Of course, this wasn't an entire show of new material. The third track was "Apartment" from their self-titled debut album and the crowd erupted when they heard the opening guitar licks.

I've never caught them live before, so I had no idea what a powerful stage presence Sameer Gadhia has. He is a charming frontman, able to whip up the crowd into a frenzy during an anthem or silent them during an emotional moment. The whole band is amazing live -- guitarists Jacob Tilley and Eric Cannata were awesome, as was the rhythm section of bassist Payam Doostzadeh and drummer Francois Comtois.

Along the way, the band featured classics like "Cough Syrup," "Something To Believe In," and "Mind Over Matter." They capped the night and their four-song encore by slaying the crowd their very first single, "My Body."

Young The Giant is currently on a massive tour that will keep them on the road through early March. They will even be returning to the Carolinas in February with shows in Asheville and Charleston!
