"Weird Al" Yankovic brought his Strings Attached Tour to Charlotte Metro Credit Union Amphitheatre. One might think that given Al's penchant for humor and parody, a Strings Attached Tour might find him performing as a marionette for the entire show, but we're pleased to report it meant that Al was backed by a full orchestra which gave certain songs a fuller, richer sound.

While Al is probably best known for his song parodies, he did perform several of his originals on Sunday night, including "Jackson Park Express," "Don't Download This Song," "Harvey The Wonder Hamster," which he claimed was the impetus for touring with an orchestra, and one of our personal favorites, "The Biggest Ball Of Twine In Minnesota."

But Al knows the parodies are what you want! While there was no "Fat, "Ricky," or "Eat It," fans were treated to an "I Lost on Jeopardy" / "I Love Rocky Road" / "Like A Surgeon" medley, "Word Crimes," "Smells Like Nirvana," "White & Nerdy," and one of his most notorious songs, "Amish Paradise," which he chose to end the set with.

After a short break, he came back for a Star Wars-themed encore: the sprawling "The Saga Begins," which found Al surrounded by several Stormtroopers and Darth Vader, followed by "Yoda," which was the only time Al played accordion all evening.

Al makes more costume changes than a pop diva, or about as many as New Found Glory's Jordan Pundik. And like Pundik, his costumes fit the songs. For "Smells Like Nirvana," he donned a striped shirt, ripped jeans, a guitar, and a blonde wig:

He looked like a member of Devo for "Dare To Be Stupid:"

He came out rolling (literally!) on a Segway for "White & Nerdy:"

He donned Obi-Wan's frock for "The Saga Continues:"

And you'll never guess how he dressed for "Amish Paradise!"

All in all, the Strings Attached Tour is classic Weird Al, even if a few classics are missing. Al is his usual humorous self, he sounds awesome, his costumes are hilarious, and the band, backing singers, and orchestra all sound great.
