Two of our goals for 2020 are i.) to work on the huge backlog of roadside attraction photos we haven't written about yet and ii.) to publish future photos in a much more timely manner. But truthfully, those may have been our resolutions for the past two years, so don't hold your breath.

Why are those our goals? Because more than once, we have photographed something that is either destroyed, moved, painted over, put in storage, or stolen before we get around to writing about it. Case in point: Gus Cutty's awesome Tina Turner mural at Asheville's Static Age Records. We went by several months ago, checked out the mural and the store, snapped a few photos, but never wrote about it.

Unfortunately, this tribute to Turner's Aunty Entity character from Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome is no more. Last week, some jerkstore painted a swastika over the mural.

Static Age launched a GoFundMe page to have another mural painted. Any extra funds raised will go to Southern Poverty Law Center "and to daily operations of the shop, or to an organization of Tina Turner's choice."
