Quarry Park opened to the public in August of 2017, but people had been trespassing and checking it out for years. And you can't blame them! It's truly beautiful.



Quarry Park was an operational quarry from the '20s to the '70s. Vulcan Materials donated the land to the city of Winston-Salem in the '80s.



Rumor has it there are freshwater jellyfish in the quarry. Further rumor has it the quarry was the inspiration for the Fleetwood Mac song "Hypnotized."

I remember a talk about North Carolina
And a strange, strange pond
You see the sides were like glass
In the thick of a forest without a road
