KISS recently launched the fifth leg of their End Of The Road tour. Saturday night's show at the Greensboro Coliseum marked the third North Carolina date of the tour, following an April 2019 show at Raleigh's PNC Arena and an August 2019 show at Charlotte's PNC Pavilion. One might think market oversaturation like this might lead to half-empty arenas or lackluster crowds. But this is KISS, people. Every show's a spectacle and a must-see event and fans come out in droves to check them out multiple times!

David Lee Roth is the opening act for this leg of the tour. Roth was the frontman from the '80s, full of swagger, karate kicks, and high-pitched squeals. But how's he holding up these days?

Well, he's losing his hair and he can't hit some of the notes anymore. But damn he is still charismatic as hell, in love with the camera, still kicking those legs in the air, and commanding the stage with a set of old Van Halen songs and a few solo numbers.

In other words, the perfect opener for KISS.

You can tell the fans that have seen KISS on this tour because they get excited when they hear Led Zeppelin's "Rock & Roll" because they know the show's about to start. The curtain falls and KISS comes down from the rafters, performing "Detroit Rock City."

Along the way, KISS plays all the hits -- "Shout It Out Loud," "Heaven's On Fire," "Lick It Up," "Calling Dr. Love," "Love Gun," "I Was Made For Loving You," "Beth," "Rock And Roll All Nite" -- and many more. They even managed to play two classics from the '80s they didn't play at their Raleigh date: "Tears Are Falling" and "Crazy, Crazy Nights."

Of course, a KISS show isn't just about the music, it's also about the pageantry and Saturday night's show didn't disappoint! There were plenty of explosions, tongues, fire-breathing, guitar pick flicks, and guitar, bass, and drum solos. If you have never experienced a KISS show, it really should be on your bucket list and time is running out!

KISS has another NC date scheduled on August 9, 2020 at Raleigh's Coastal Credit Union Music Park. The tour is set to finally reach the end of the road on July 21, 2021 in New York City. Here's hoping they hit NC a few more times between now and then!

  1. This is a great way to kick off a return to concert photography. I still have no earthly idea why you ever sent me to take concert photos when THIS was what yours look like.
