This ain't your ordinary water tower. The water tower is a standpipe water tower and is not shaped like most water towers. According to Walterboro's official city website, the water tower was built in 1915, stands 133 feet tall, is made of concrete, and holds 100,000 gallons of water.

But at the base of the water tower are three jail cells. According to the city, when travelers couldn't pay for hotels back in the day, they were allowed to spend the night in one of the cells. But we've also heard it was once a proper jail.
