Behind the Wrightsville Beach Museum Of History, you'll find this Hurricane Storm Surge Marker. This marker, which stands at nine feet about sea level, shows the storm surges (the rise in sea level during a storm) for eight hurricanes that hit Southeastern North Carolina.

According to a nearby plaque, "The Exhibit was constructed with wood pilings salvaged from the 2013 demolition and rebuild of the east end of the Crystal Pier, Wrightsville Beach (originally built in 1939) and was a collaboration betwen the WB Museum Of History and Dylan Rosbrugh as his 2017 Eagle Scout Project for Boy Scout Troop 232."
