Fenne Lily entertained an enthusiastic crowd gathered at Motorco Music Hall in Durham on Monday night. After releasing her latest album, Big Picture, in April, she hit the road sharing the new music with her enduring fans.

Lily thanked the crowd for standing on their feet for so long to hear her music. She added, “I really like Durham, and the food here. I am very familiar with Durham, I recorded my record here.” She was referring to Big Picture, which was recorded and co-produced with Brad Cook at his Durham studio.

Joining Lily on stage for the show were guitarist Joe Sherrin, Kaylee Stenberg on bass and drummer James Luxton. Quite a few songs from the new album were played as the crowd sang along to tunes like In “My Own Time” and “Lights Light Up.”

Many of Lily’s songs are about relationships and the ups and downs of love, and the inevitable breakups. At one point, she encouraged the audience members to hold hands with their significant others before playing one of her songs.

While most of the set was original music, and Lily certainly has enough of a repertoire to do only her music, the band did play one cover song. The crowd was pleased to sing and dance to her cover of Avril Lavigne’s “I’m With You.”

After wrapping up their set with “Half Finished,” co-headliner Christian Lee Hutson took the stage to finish out the night. Lily finishes out this tour with a show at the Troubadour in West Hollywood on June 16.
