Concert Review: Melanie Martinez (Skyla Credit Union Amphitheatre)

Melanie Martinez brought her Portals Tour to the Skyla Credit Union Amphitheatre on June 24th. The sold-out crowd screamed along to every word.



Melanie Martinez first appeared in the public eye in the third season of The Voice at the age of sixteen. Although she did not win, she gained many fans in the process and soon after released the EP Dollhouse, which was followed a year later by the full-length Cry Baby.



Martinez has left the Cry Baby and K–12 portions of her career behind. None of the songs were performed on Saturday evening. Instead, she performed the deluxe edition of her Portals album in its entirety, in order. In fact, during the pre-show backstage festivities, Martinez invited fans to offer their condolences on the death of that version of Martinez.



But that didn't deter her fans that have been with her for every stage of her career. They knew every word from Portals and screamed along with Martinez. If you have a chance to catch her Portals Tour before it wraps up its US run in Minneapolis on July 12th, you should. The visuals are great, the back up dancers are superb, and Melanie Martinez delivers an outstanding performance.
