Movements brought the energy and their four-band bill to The Orange Peel in Asheville, NC this past Monday for their Ruckus! tour. Opening for them were Heart to Gold, Softcult, and Mannequin Pussy, who all played their parts in riling up the crowd before Movements went on.

Minneapolis band Heart to Gold kicked off the night, and got the crowd pumped even with a limited set that was full of fun, punchy songs.

After that was Softcult, who gave a lasting performance singing about sexism among other real issues they face. My favorite song from their set began with the line “You should have killed me when you had the chance” and every lyric that followed was just as aggressive as the first.

Last before Movements took the stage was Mannequin Pussy who delivered extremely raw vocals and a performance that exuded emotion. Just like Softcult, Mannequin Pussy makes an effort to sing about real world problems, ending their set with "Pigs Is Pigs," a song about police brutality.

With three openers there was no denying the crowd was ready for Movements to go on. Their set was split between songs from their recent album Ruckus! and songs from their first album Feel Something, with a few others from throughout their discography as well.

Regardless of whether the song was new or old, the crowd never stopped singing along. The four-piece band has an undeniable stage presence that kept the crowd smiling until the end of the night.
