The ever-evolving indie artist, Noah Gundersen, stopped by MotorCo Music Hall in Durham Friday evening. He played an intimate set including songs that he wrote while the world was locked down. This led to a heart-felt interaction with his fans, acknowledging that is was a hard time for everyone. Gundersen told the crowd how appreciative he was of their support and that he has the ability to travel and play music.

The Washington native began his set with “If this is the End,” the title track of his newest album that launched in early September. A little over halfway through his set, Gundersen invited Casey Dubie, who opened for him, to join the stage. It was evident the two artists have immense respect for each other and enjoy collaborating. They sang “Atlantis” and “First Defeat” from Gundersen’s albums A Pillar of Salt (2021) and Ledges (2014).

When Dubie opened for Gundersen that night, she mentioned that she has been listening to his music for about 10 years and he has influenced her songwriting. Her newest song, “Older Colder,” released on Friday, is about growing up and the nostalgia of her younger years. Don’t we all wish we could replay some of those core memories we built as children? Dubie ended her set with many “thank you’s” and the most beautiful stripped-down version of Lit’s “My Own Worst Enemy.”
