It should come as no surprise that I went to yet another Tophouse concert. As long as they are performing in North Carolina, I’ll be there. And with each show, the crowds get bigger and bigger.

For this tour, The Wildwoods went on as the opening band, and I think this was the best choice they could have made! Not only do both bands have a very similar type of music that would draw the same fans, they also both have a very similar type of humor. And I was laughing so much that by the time I left, my face was hurting!

The Wildwoods captivated the audience with some really incredible original songs, some of my favorites being “Cherry Pickin’” and “I Will Follow You to Willow.” They also threw in some fun covers, like a bluegrass rendition of Bob Dylan, and for the Disney lovers they sang “Oo-De-Lally.” They, like Tophouse, really like to weave in stories and humor in between the songs, which I really enjoyed.

Tophouse made their way to the stage with yet another dramatic entrance and the audience was at attention. They asked how many people were at their first Tophouse concert, and how many people were returning, and it was very cool to see how many returning fans there were! Through the night, they played a mix of songs from previous albums, as well as a few songs from their new album, Practice. They talked about dinosaurs and meteors, Chicago and Montana, and of course hands that are good. I was excited to hear one of their new songs, “Run,” live. Throughout the show, the crowd cheered Joe on as he tuned the banjo.

And then just like that, it was ending - time flies when you’re at a Tophouse concert! They saved one of their most popular songs for the post-encore, “The Mountain Song.” My only complaint is that I wish it could go on longer. I’ll have to go to another show soon to see if they play my favorite, “The Ballad of Michael Light.”

They’ve got quite a few US tour dates left, but if anyone is planning on doing some summer travel, I would highly recommend checking out their international dates, because they’ll be making their way to Ireland, Scotland, and more! That sounds like a pretty incredible addition to a vacation to me!
