From "Rushmere" to "I Will Wait:" Mumford & Sons Deliver a Dynamic Set in Raleigh

British folk-rock band, Mumford & Sons, performed on Tuesday at Coastal Credit Union Music Park. Raleigh was just one of many stops on their North American Railroad Revival Tour. The band opened with a cover of “Take ‘em Away” followed by “42,” (Delta, 2018) which was their first time playing it live on this tour. It instantly set the tone for an evening that felt both bold and deeply personal. Mumford & Sons is one of those bands whose music resonates with people no matter what season of life they are in.

The night included songs reminiscent of the later 2000s and new songs from their latest album, Rushmere. No big deal, but this is the band’s first album since Delta in 2018! Fans were ecstatic to hear new songs live. They moved to the B-stage for an acoustic set that included “Timshel,” (Sigh No More, 2009) and “Reminder” (Babel, 2012). They finished up the intimate performance with Simon and Garfunkel’s “The Boxer,” before heading back to the main stage for the final few songs. “I Will Wait” turned into a full crowd chorus that echoed into the night. Fans left feeling nostalgic, fulfilled, and even a little bit healed.

Margo Price opened for Mumford & Sons earlier in the night. Throughout the tour, the band has planned a variety of artists to open for them. Other artists include Lucius, Sierra Farrell, and Gregory Alan Isakov to name a few. Some others are to be announced at a later date.
