The Descendents and Frank Turner & The Sleeping Souls brought their co-headlining tour to a sold-out Fillmore in Charlotte on February 21. What the tour lacks in a spiffy name, it more than makes up for in merch. The crowd was a mix of old punks, young kids at their first show, and fans of awesome music.

Descendents Lead singer Milo Aukerman came out talking about how everything around sucks lately before launching into "Everything Sux" and never looking back. Before the dust settled and the lights came back on at the Fillmore, the Descendents had barrelled through thirty-three songs, including fan favorites like "Suburban Home," "Good Good Things," "Silly Girl," and many more.

The Descendents played their first show forty-seven years ago this past week. While most bands that have been around that long act like their canes and walkers are within reach backstage, the Descendents aren't like that at all. Maybe it's because they have to stay sharp because of the waves of crowdsurfers that are constantly coming their way at every show, Charlotte included.

The tour with Frank Turner ends March 15th in Chicago. If you have the chance to see this pairing, I highly recommend it.

Strange Carolinas started as a hobby for Chris Hocker who often dragged his family to offbeat detours on family vacations. Hocker decided to start photographing and writing about these roadside attractions and in June 2014, launched Strange Carolinas with a story on Myrtle Beach's KISS Coffeehouse. In addition to chronicling over 400 attractions across the Carolinas, Strange Carolinas has also become an impressive music blog.
