New Bern's Cedar Grove Cemetery is a proper spooky Southern cemetery with Spanish moss and graves that have been around for centuries. But it has one thing that most cemeteries don't: a weeping arch.

The town built an arch and a wall around the cemetery in 1854. The walls and arch were made from shell rock, which was mined sea shells and fossilized sea creatures. From far away, it looks like ordinary stone. It is not until you get close to the arch that you notice its made from shells.

Because the shells make the arch rather porous, it drips or "weeps" water on unsuspecting visitors. But here's the rub: if the Weeping Arch sheds a tear on you, you're the next to die.
