Lords Of Acid will be performing at The Fillmore Charlotte's Underground on Saturday, March 16th. With Orgy, Genitorturers, Little Miss Nasty, and Gabriel And The Apocalypse along for the ride, this promises to be one of the most insane shows Charlotte has seen in some time. We sat down with guitarist Sin Quirin to talk about the tour, Ministry, and more.
While Sin Quirin is best known for his work with Ministry, this is actually his second tour with Lords Of Acid. Back in 2009, Quirin was contacted by his manager and told that Lords Of Acid frontman Praga Khan was planning a 2010 U.S. tour and looking for a band. Khan was impressed with Quirin's work and Quirin ended up putting the entire band together for the U.S. tour. While the current tour is full of vintage Lords Of Acid tracks like "Rough Sex," Quirin's personal favorite to perform live, there are also a handful of songs from the band's 2018 album, Pretty In Kink, which Quirin feels sound like classic Lords tracks.
Quirin has known the guys in Orgy and Genitorturers for twenty years, so he's really been enjoying the Pretty In Kink tour. If you're wondering what to expect at the show, Quirin likens it to a cross between a bachelor party, Mardi Gras, New Year's Eve, and a strip club. When asked if anything really intense has happened on this tour, Quirin admitted nothing has happened on the level of the guy pulling out a gun on the band's tour bus after a 2010 show, but he did say there have been a few nights that would land him in jail if he told what had happened. He did say that with a tour bus full of empty booze bottles, blow-up dolls, and lube, you can pretty much imagine what kind of craziness goes on.
The Pretty In Kink tour wraps up in Las Vegas on March 27th. After that, Quirin will hit the road for a short, but very cool-sounding tour with Ministry. Sponsored by Vans, Record Store Day, and Wax Trax! Records, the band will embark on a six-city U.S. tour and will only perform songs from Psalm 69 and earlier. The documentary Industrial Accident: The Story of Wax Trax! Records will also be shown at these dates. Ministry will then embark on an international tour that will keep them on the road for June and July. After that, Quirin feels the band will get together and work on a new album as Al Jourgensen recently built a new home recording studio.
Somehow during all this hectic touring with two different bands, Quirin still finds time for 3 Headed Snake, his power metal outfit that released and quickly sold out of their debut album late last year. He will be taking 3 Headed Snake across the Atlantic for a short tour later this year. Of course, we couldn't let Sin Quirin go without asking him to make his dream music festival of five acts, living or dead, to appear on a bill with him. Who did he choose? Hendrix, classic '70s KISS, Robin Trower, The Animals, and late '80s/early '90s Minstry. And they'd all close out the show with an all-star rendition of "Hotel California."
