Bub Hyder began creating Puncheon Camp Creek Ranch, his own personal Western town, in 1992. According to Hendersonville's Times-News, the Ranch now boasts a "hotel, post office, jail, courthouse, fire department, bank, general store, school, livery stable and church."

But truth be told, it wasn't the buildings that drew us to Puncheon Camp Creek Ranch. Before you come to Puncheon Camp Creek Ranch, one is greeted by two large fiberglass cows, one that is very similar to the steer oustide Fratellis Italian Steakhouse in Winston-Salem.

Puncheon Camp Creek Ranch is also home to two Muffler Men, a Bunyan Muffler Man

and what we believe is the only Native American Muffler Man still on display in North Carolina (there were two others when we started Strange Carolinas; the one in Asheville was moved to Michigan while the one in Cherokee was put in storage):

There is also a fiberglass Chip's Hamburgers mascot, only it has been modified to look like a cowboy (there is an Elvis-ized Chip's mascot in Rocky Mount and there was once a Chip's mascot made to look like a ringmaster in front of Harry's Grill & Piggy's Ice, but it was not there when we went by a few months ago):
