All the way from New South Wales, Australia on the North American leg of her PRE PLEASURE tour, Julia Jacklin and her band brought the energy to The Orange Peel. Monday night was Julia Jacklin's first time back in Asheville in about five years, with her last performance in September of 2018. So as you can imagine the crowd was full of anticipation.

Jacklin was such a personable and charming performer and often stopped between songs to tell stories about times she had played in the area and the time she spent couch surfing in Asheville on a backpacking trip years ago. Julia was so interactive with the crowd which made for an amazing, intimate performance.

Julia Jacklin mostly played songs from her sophomore album and the album she released at the end of last summer. Jacklin played an even amount of songs from Crushing and PRE PLEASURE, along with "to Perth, before the border closes." Julia Jacklin closed the set with "Pool Party," the only song she played from her first album. Her performance truly showed off her range as a singer and a performer since her setlist featured some of her more mellow music as well as some of her upbeat sing-alongs.

Julia Jacklin is one of my favorite songwriters and I have been dying to see her live for a few years now and she definitely lived up to every expectation I had. Not only is her voice beautiful, but the lighting was great and the chimes Jacklin played throughout the show were just as enchanting.
