Some nights change you forever. On Sunday night at Coastal Credit Union Music Park, I had the privilege of standing behind my camera to photograph none other than Marco Antonio Solís. As a Latino, this was more than just another concert. It was a moment of heritage, culture, and honor all colliding at once.

Marco Antonio Solís isn’t just an artist, he’s a living legend. His voice has carried through decades, shaping the very foundation of Spanish music culture. From his early beginnings with Los Bukis, where songs like “Tu Cárcel” and “Quiéreme” became timeless anthems, to his solo career filled with classics like “Si No Te Hubieras Ido”, “Más Que Tu Amigo”, and “A Dónde Vamos a Parar,” his music has become part of our DNA. His lyrics capture love, heartbreak, resilience, and hope, resonating deeply across generations. He’s not just admired, he’s revered, and his artistry continues to inspire millions worldwide.

To be there in person, tasked with the responsibility of capturing his performance, felt surreal. The crowd’s energy was electric. Families, couples, and friends, all singing every word in unison, voices echoing into the night sky. You could feel the weight of what his music means to people. Every song brought back memories, every note carried emotion.

And there I was, not just in the audience, but behind the lens, documenting a piece of history. As a Latino, I felt immense pride. Growing up, I heard his songs at family gatherings, on road trips, at celebrations and even in quiet, reflective moments. His music has always been there, a reminder of who we are and where we come from. To stand on that stage, camera in hand, and capture him giving life to those same songs that shaped my culture and upbringing, was one of the greatest honors I’ve ever had in my career.

This wasn’t just another concert review for me. It was personal. It was a reminder that our culture is powerful, rich, and enduring. Marco Antonio Solís is proof that music transcends borders, that Spanish-language songs can move hearts globally, and that our stories deserve to be told, sung, and remembered.

Mom, Dad, Grandma, my whole family, my People, my heritage, I hope I made you proud tonight.
I’m incredibly honored and humbled.

For me, Sunday night was more than photography. It was standing in the presence of greatness, documenting a legacy, and honoring my own roots at the same time. A night I’ll carry with me forever.
