Henry L. Warren's Shangri-La is one of the best roadside attractions in all of the Carolinas (personal aside: we have made several trips to Shangri-La over the years, just to marvel at its awesomeness). A labor of love, he painstakingly worked on the stone village from the time he retired in 1968 until his death in 1977. 37 years later, it's still standing strong. The stone village consists of twenty-seven structures, including a bank, a church, a gas station, a gym, a hen house, a hospital, a hotel, a library, a silo, a theater, a water tower, and a windmill. Seriously, it's so cool you wish you could shrink yourself down and live in the tiny stone town. It really is a Shangi-La.
